The Neckerchief.

Scarf - Flea Market $1 / Top - J. Crew (old) / Jeans - H&M (old) / Sandals - Target

I'm not normally much of a "trends" person. I don't adopt a trend for the sake that it's in. It has to work for my style and I have to genuinely love it. Besides the off-the-shoulder silhouette that I love and is so popular, the neckerchief is definitely having it's moment this season. I love how easy, versatile, and affordable this look is. Everyone probably has a scarf or bandana hanging around (I've tied this one to my handbag here).  It is a fun way to try out a trend and elevate an outfit without spending any money.

What do you think of the neckerchief? Love it or leave it?!

Stripe Dress & Sandals.

Dress - Banana Republic / Sandals - Target

When it comes to getting dressed, ease and comfort are the main criteria for me. I tend to gravitate towards the same outfit combinations, i.e. sweater and skinny jeans for the fall. It takes the guess work out of getting dressed, because I know it works. Dresses and sandals are one of my favorite outfit combos for the summer. It's a one shot outfit that's quick and looks pulled together. I love the loose, flowy shape of this dress. I would definitely size down because it down run quite large. Otherwise, it is forgiving, flattering, and makes you want to twirl around.

What is your summer uniform?

NEW IN | Aldo Mule Slides

Mule slides are the shoe trend I am obsessed with for the spring and summer. I love the simple, minimal look and how comfortable they are. It is basically a fashionable and socially acceptable way to wear house slippers out and about. I have been searching for the perfect affordable, comfortable and well made pair for some time now. I recently picked up these Aldo "Legalini" flats ($90) and they meet all my requirements. They fit true to size, very comfortable and I have already gotten a lot of wear out of the (see here). The leather is super soft and great quality. Best of all, they are giving Gucci vibes at a fraction of the price.

What do you think of the mule slide trend?!

EarthFest.

Shirt -  Dad's hand-me-down / Shorts - Calvin Klein (thrift) / Sandals - H&M / Bag - Coach / Scarf - Flea Market

One of my favorite things about the spring and summer is there are so many fun events happening around the city. Concerts, festivals, farmer's markets, there is no excuse for being bored. Over the weekend, I went to EarthFest, a free concert in the city, and it felt like the official start to summer. When you are spending the entire day outside, comfort is key. I kept it super easy with my dad's old white button-down and a pair of cut off shorts. To add some interest to the outfit, I love accessorizing with vintage scarves. It's an inexpensive way to change up you look and make it look like you have more than three handbags.

What are you looking forward to doing this summer?!

Meet Jada | One Year Adoptaversary!

This weekend marks the one year adoptaversary of my best friend, Jada! To celebrate this milestone, I thought I'd share Jada's story and our journey to adopt her. Hopefully this inspires you to consider rescuing your best friend.

After my childhood dog, Ella passed away at the age of 15, I didn't think I would ever be emotionally ready to get another dog. Her health declined very quickly and significantly in her last few weeks and it was so hard to see the demise. After her passing, I started following different animal rescue site and became obsessed with wanting to to help all the dogs (especially senior dogs) I saw. I couldn't imagine Ella, in her old age and declining health, not having a home and a family to take care of her. It is something every dog deserves.

This brings us to Jada. After 6 months, my family and I were finally ready to open our home and heart to another dog. I knew that I wanted to adopt an "undesirable" dog. In shelters, puppies and smaller dogs go like hot cakes while older dogs (5+) and pit bulls are hardest to adopt. Unfortunately, there is a lot of discrimination and misconceptions against pit bulls. Even if people do want to adopt a pit bull or another bully breed, breed-specific legislation makes it hard for people to do so.

Jada was one of the handful of dogs we met at the MSPCA Boston. She was an 8 year old pit bull mix who was dropped off at the shelter with three large mass cell tumors. The shelter was fantastic and provided the surgery to remove the tumors, but they will most likely return within a few years. Because of her age, breed, and health problems, she had been at the shelter for almost three months and was adopted and returned once in those three months. I knew I had to take her home and give her the great like she deserved.

She fit into our family seamlessly. She isn't perfect, and we are still working on some training (she is a puller when walking and gets overly enthusiastic when she sees other dogs), but I wouldn't change anything about my decision. She is the most loving, goofy, affectionate dog and I love her to pieces. I'm so happy I was able to give her a second chance at a great life and free up a space in the shelter for another dog in need. If you are considering getting a dog, please adopt! there are so many amazing dogs of all ages and breeds at the shelter that would be a great addition to you family.

Off The Shoulder.

Top - H&M / Pants - H&M / Shoes - Aldo / Bag - Coach

Off-the-shoulder silhouettes are definitely having a moment and I’m not ashamed to say that I have jumped on the band wagon. The shape is so comfortable but still gives a cool, effortless - I just threw this on and look fab- effect to your outfit. I picked this one up at H&M for only $10. The best part is, it is part of their Conscious Collection, which uses recycled and organic fabrics. When I don’t buy pre-owned, it makes me feel better that my shirt is made with 55% recycled cotton.

Are you loving the off-the-shoulder trend?
